iPhone Messages Not in Order on iOS 12 (Fixed)

Many Apple users have a complaint that their iPhone messages not in order on iOS 12. They said that this problem occurred after updating iOS 12. Here I am going to tell you the solutions to fix this issue. Before trying these solutions, restart your iPhone. Sometimes, restart itself will solve your problem.

Fix 1: Force close apps

After force closing the apps, restart your device. Then launch Messages app and check the order.

iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 plus, 6, & 5

  1. Press the Home Button twice. You can see recently closed apps.
  2. Swipe all the apps up including Music App to close them.

iPhone X

  1. Swipe the screen up from the Home screen. You can see recently closed apps.
  2. Press and hold the app firmly. Tap ‘-’ symbol in the red circle at the left upper corner of the app (OR) after seeing ‘-’ symbol in the red circle, swipe all the apps up to close them.

Fix 2: Set “Date & Time” to Automatic

  1. Launch Settings->General->Date & Time.
  2. Enable “Set Automatically”.

If it doesn’t work out,

  1. Turn off “Set Automatically”.
  2. Wait for 15-20 seconds and then turn it on.
  3. Turn on “24-Hour Time” too.

Fix 3: Force Restart

iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus, and earlier

Press and hold the Home Button and Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until the Apple Logo Appears.

iPhone 7 & 7 Plus

Press and hold the Side Button and Volume Down Button until the Apple Logo appears.

iPhone 8, 8 Plus, & X

  1. Press the Volume Up Button and release it.
  2. Press the Volume Down Button and release it.
  3. Press and hold the Side Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Fix 4: Check for Software Update

  1. Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi/Cellular Data.
  2. Go to Settings->General->Software Update.
  3. Tap “Download and Install” if update available.

Fix 5: Check for Carrier Settings Update

  1. Connect your phone to Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
  2. Go to Settings->General->About.
  3. Tap “Update” in the pop-up box if update is available.

Fix 6: Reset All Settings

  1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
  2. Tap “Reset All Settings”.
  3. Enter your passcode and restrictions passcode.
  4. Tap “Reset All Settings”.
  5. Again tap “Reset all Settings” to confirm.

Note: This action will reset all Wi-Fi Networks & Passwords, APN & VPN Settings, and Cellular Settings of your iPhone.

Other solutions:

  1. Reset your iOS device to Factory Settings.
  2. Downgrade iOS 12.
  3. Contact Apple support.
