The Recovery Server Could Not be Contacted on macOS Mojave (Solved)


I tried to install Mojave on My Mac. suddenly the error occurred “The recovery server could not be activated” while installing Mojave. Again and again, I tried to install it. But I couldn’t install. One of the Mac users said some solutions to fix this issue. Here I am going to share those solutions with you.
Solution 1: Use Terminal Command

  1. Make sure that your Mac is connected to internet and internet connection is good and speed
  2. Launch Terminal from Utilities menu.
  3. Enter ntpdate -u time.apple.com and then click Enter Key.
  4. Wait until the command is executed and then close the terminal window.
  5. Then try to install Mojave.

Solution 2:  Use Date command
Use any old date to enter date command.

  1. Open up a Terminal window from the recovery menu.
  2. Type date 0706051518 that is June 7th 05:15 2018.
  3. Click Enter Key.
  4. Then install Mojave

Solution 3: Check your internet connect
Make sure that your internet connection is good and speed. Sometimes this problem will occur because of the slow internet connection.
Solution 4: Check Date & Time and Time Zone

  1. Go to Apple menu->System Preferences->Date & Time.
  2. Click the lock icon to unlock.
  3. Enter your Password and then click “Unlock”.
  4. Uncheck the checkbox next to “Set date and time automatically”.
  5. Wait for few seconds and then select the checkbox again.
  6. Select “Time Zone” tab.
  7. Select the checkbox next to “Set time zone automatically using current location”.
  8. Close System Preference.
  9. Then try to install Mojave.

Solution 5: Reset PRAM/NVRAM

  1. Press and hold the Power Button until your Mac turned off.
  2. Press the Power Button to turn on your Mac.
  3. Then immediately press and hold the Option + Command + P + R keys simultaneously as quickly as possible after pressing the Power Button.
  4. Keep pressing those keys until you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  5. Wait for some time. It may take 15-20 minutes.
  6. Then your mac will restart normally.

Solution 6: Create a new Admin Account and use it

  1. Go to Apple menu->System Preferences->Users & Groups.
  2. Click the lock icon to unlock.
  3. Enter the password and then click “Unlock”.
  4. Click “+” Plus symbol that is above lock icon.
  5. Select “Administrator” from the pop-up menu.
  6. Enter the required details for your admin account and then click “Create User”.
  7. Log off from the current user.
  8. Log back in through new admin account and try to install Mojave.
  9. Then install Mojave.

Solution 7: Restart your Mac in Safe Mode
Restarting your Mac in Safe Mode and then install Mojave.

  1. Turn off your Mac via Apple menu->Shut Down.
  2. Press the Power Button to turn on your Mac.
  3. Press and hold the Shift Key immediately after pressing the Power Button.
  4. You can see the Apple Logo on the screen. Don’t leave the Shift key when you see the Apple Logo.
  5. Keep pressing the Shift Key until you see the Login Window.
  6. Select your User Account and then enter the Password to login. You may need to login twice if FileVault is turned on.

Solution 8: Reinstall Mojave

  1. Press and hold the Power Button to turn off your Mac.
  2. Press the Power Button to turn on your Mac.
  3. Press and hold the Command + R keys simultaneously as soon as possible after pressing the Power Button.
  4. Keep pressing Command + R keys until the Apple Logo appears.
  5. After that macOS Utilities windows will appear with 4 options. Tap “Reinstall macOS”.
  6. Tap “Continue”.
  7. You will be prompted to choose your hard disk/drive. If you are not asked to select your disk, tap “Show All Disks”. You may need to enter your Apple ID.
  8. Tap “Install”. Wait until the installation process is completed.
  9. Your Mac will restart after completing the installation.

Other Solutions:

  1. Uninstall antivirus software if you use.
  2. Wait for 1 or 2 hours and then install Mojave.
