Fixed: Outlook 2016 for Mac keeps asking for password

Many of Mac Users had reported a problem that whenever they tried to open Outlook 2016 for Mac, the Outlook keeps prompting for a password again and again. Here, I am going to share some tricks with you so that you can get rid of this “Outlook 2016 for Mac keeps asking for a password” issue.

Fix 1: Delete “ADAL” & “Office” entries

  1. Firstly quit all your Office Apps (word/excel/powerpoint/OneNote/outlook)
  2. Now open Keychain access.
  3. Search Exchange under Login.
  4. Then delete all “ADAL” & “office” entries.
  5. Finally, Relaunch Outlook and provide your Credentials.

Fix 2: Change your Outlook Security Settings

  1. Firstly close your Outlook application and then open Control Panel.
  2. You will see a Mail icon just double-click on it.
  3. Tap on Show Profile -> Outlook Profile -> Properties -> Email Accounts -> Change.
  4. Now the Change Account dialog box will be shown to you. Go to More Settings option.
  5. The Microsoft Exchange Dialog box will be shown to you.
  6. you can move to Security tab.
  7. You will be able to see Login Network Security list ->Anonymous Authentication– > click OK.
  8. Finally, click Finish and then Restart Outlook.

Fix 3: Remove Keychain Entries

Launch your Keychain tool and remove the entries which are listed below.

  • Exchange
  • Microsoft Office Identities
  • MSOpenTech *
  • “OC” Keychain entry that is unrelated.
