One of my friend who uses iPhone 8 had reported a problem that her Microphone doesn’t function in a proper way. I too have experienced this same issue when I used my iPhone 6. Sometimes I felt very irritated that I couldn’t convey any information to the person on the other end because of this Mic issue. Somehow, I have fixed this issue and now I feel free. I am here to share some of the fixes that can help you to solve this kind of issue.
Before trying these solutions, make sure to test the microphone of your iPhone that it works well.
Fix 1: Take Off your iPhone Case
At first, remove your iPhone case, screen protector and whatever might be that covers the speakers of your iPhone and iSight mic. Just take off everything and test your microphone.
Fix 2: Check iPhone Microphone Settings
First, make sure that the issue arises only when you use certain apps and check the settings of your Microphone by Settings >> Privacy >> Microphone.
Fix 3: Turn Off Noise Cancellation
Turning off Noise Cancellation will help you to reduce the noise of your surrounding environment whenever you make a call. To turn off it, Settings >> General >> Accessibility >> scroll down to see Phone Noise Cancellation >> Turn it Off.
Fix 4: Restart your device
To restart your device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button >> Slide to Power Off >> Wait for 10 seconds and again press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple Logo appears on your screen.
Fix 5: Update Software on your device
To update iOS, you have to go to Settings >> General >> Software Update >> Download and Install.

Fix 6: Reset All Settings on your iPhone
Resetting All Settings on your iPhone will reset the iPhone Microphone Settings too. To do this, Go to Settings >> General >> scroll down and tap Reset >> Enter your Passcode >> Reset All Settings.
Fix 7: Erase iPhone
This fix will not only reset all settings but also it will reset the apps and contents inside. Before doing this technique, it is advisable to backup your data. To erase iPhone, Go to Settings >> Reset >> Reset All Content and Settings >> Enter your passcode >> Erase iPhone.
- Clean your Microphone with a gentle brush carefully.
- Make sure that, not an accessory is plugged into the headphone port.
- Check whether Restriction is applied to Microphone. If so, disable it by Settings >> General >> Restrictions ( Enter Restriction Passcode ) >> Scroll down to see Microphone.
