Fixed: iPhone X Portrait Mode Not Working


Many iPhone X users have a complaint that Portrait Mode not working. If you are one of them, this article will help you to fix this issue. Here I am going to tell you why does Portrait Mode not working on your iPhone X and solutions to solve this problem.
Before trying these solutions,

  1. Restart your iPhone.
  2. Make sure that the distance between the phone and subject is proper (not too short/long). Keep at least 19 inches distance between the phone and the object.
  3. Avoid using Portrait mode in low light or dark place. Because Portrait Mode will not work in low light.
  4. Make sure that the circle turns yellow when you are taking the photo.

Solution 1: Force Restart  (Hard Reset)

  1. Press Volume Up button and quickly release it.
  2. Then press Volume Down button and quickly release it.
  3. At last, press and hold the Side button (Wake/Sleep) until the Apple logo appears.

Solution 2: Check for Software Update

  1. Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi or Cellular Network.
  2. Go to Settings->General->Software Update.
  3. If update is available, click “Download and Install”.

Solution 3: Force close apps

  1. Swipe the screen up from the Home screen. You can see the recently closed apps.
  2. Press and hold the app firmly. Tap ‘-’ symbol in the red circle at the left upper corner of the app.force close

Note: After seeing ‘-’ symbol in the red circle, you can also swipe all the apps up to close them forcely.
Solution 4: Reset All settings

  1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
  2. Tap “Reset All Settings”.
  3. Enter passcode if required and then tap “Reset All Settings” in the pop-up box.Reset All Settings

Note: When you Reset All Settings, your iPhone will remove all bluetooth pairing details, saved Wi-Fi Networks & passwords,  and APN & VPN settings.
Solution 5: Restore your iPhone to Factory settings (Factory Reset)
Before reset your iPhone to Factory Settings, take a Backup. Because this action will Erase all date from your device.
To take a Backup,

  1. Connect your phone to Wi-Fi or Cellular data.
  2. Launch Settings->Apple ID (your name)->iCloud->iCloud Backup.
  3. Make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on. Tap “Back Up Now”.back up iphone 8

Wait until the process is finished. If the backup process is completed, you can see the date & time of the last backup under “Back Up Now”.
Factory Reset/Restore

  1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
  2. Tap “Erase All Contents and Settings”.
  3. A pop-up box will appear with three options: Finishing Uploading Then Erase, Erase Now, and Cancel.
  4. If you want to take a Backup, tap “Finishing Uploading Then Erase”.
  5. If you have already taken a Backup, tap “Erase Now”.factory reset phone 6

Then restore your phone From iCloud and iTunes Backup.

Other solutions:

  1. Check Apple warranty status. If your iPad covers warranty, take it to the Apple Service Center.
  2. Make an Apple genius bar appointment.
