iPhone and iPad won't connect to wifi? Here's the fix


I am using iPhone 8. When I tried to connect it to WiFi, it didn’t connect. I don’t know why. I turned off and turned on WiFi a few times on Control Center. But it didn’t work. One of my friends suggested me to try some solutions to fix this issue. Here I am going to share those solutions with you. You can use this solution for iPad WiFi issues, too.
Solution 1: Check WiFi router or hotspot

  1. Make sure that your WiFi router or hotspot is on.
  2. If you are not near to the WiFi router or hotspot, you can’t receive a signal. So you have to within range.

Solution 2: Check WiFi setting on your iPhone

  1. Launch Settings->WiFi.
  2. Make sure that WiFi is enabled.

Note: If Auto Join is disabled under WiFi network name, enable it.
Solution 3: Power cycle (restart) the router or Hotspot
If you are using wireless router,

  1. Disconnect the router from the power.
  2. To do it unplug the power cord from the back of the router. Wait for some time.
  3. Then plug the power cord into the router.

If you are using wireless hotspot,

  1. Turn off the hotspot. Wait for 30 seconds.
  2. And turn on it.

Solution 4: Forget WiFi network

  1. Go to Settings->General->WiFi.
  2. Select the WiFi network name that your iPhone want to forget.
  3. Tap “Forget this Network”.

Then select the WiFi name that you want to connect.
Solution 5: check Airplane Mode

  1. Launch Settings->Airplane mode.
  2. Make sure that Airplane Mode is disabled.

Solution 6: Reset All settings

  1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
  2. Select “Reset All Settings” under Reset
  3. Enter passcode if required and confirm the action.Reset Network

Note: When you do reset all settings, your iPhone will remove all Bluetooth pairing details, saved WiFi passwords, APN and VPN settings.
Solution 7: Reset Network settings

  1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
  2. Select “Reset Network Settings” under Reset
  3. Enter passcode if required and confirm the action.

Solution 8: Restart iPhone
Force restart
Force restart/Hard Reset (till iPhone 6)

  1. Press and hold the Home Button.
  2. At the same time, press and hold the Wake/Sleep (Power) button at top right of the iPhone while holding the Home Button.
  3. Hold both buttons until the screen goes black and wait until the Apple logo appears.

Force restart/Hard Reset ( iPhone 7)

  1. Press and hold the Wake/Sleep (Power) button at the right of the iPhone.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down button on the left side while holding the Wake/Sleep button.
  3. Wait until the Apple logo appears.

Force restart/Hard Reset ( iPhone 8 and iPhone X)

  1. Press Volume Up button and quickly release it. And then Press Volume Down button and quickly release it.
  2. At last, press and hold the Slide button (Wake/Sleep button) until the Apple logo appears.

Note: don’t press Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time.
Soft Restart:

  1. Launch Settings->General.
  2. Find “Shut Down” and tap it. Now the iPad will turn off.
  3. To turn on the iPad press the slide button on the right side of your iPhone.Restart iphone

Other solutions:

  1. Upgrade your iPhone and iPad to the latest version of iOS.
  2. Make sure that WiFi password is correct.
  3. Reset the Modem and Make sure that your router is connected to the modem.
