iPhone 7 Proximity Sensor Not Working? Here’s the fix


Many Apple users have a complaint that their iPhone 7 proximity sensor not working. Some people said that this issue occurred after screen replacement. Here I am going to tell you the solutions to fix this issue.
Solution 1: Restart your iPhone

  1. Press and hold the Home Button (Sleep/Wake) until slide to power off screen appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn off your device.
  3. To turn on your device, press and hold the Power Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Solution 2: Force Restart
Press and hold the Power Button (Sleep/Wake) and Volume Down Button simultaneously until the Apple Logo appears.
Solution 3: Remove case and Screen protector

  1. Remove the back case from your iPhone.
  2. Remove the screen protectors like tempered glass, scratch cover, etc from your iPhone.
  3. Then check whether proximity sensor works or not.

Solution 4: Check for Software Update

  1. Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
  2. Open Settings->General->Software Update.
  3. Tap “Download and Install” if update is available.

Solution 5: Reset All settings

  1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
  2. Tap “Reset All Settings”.
  3. Enter your passcode.
  4. Tap “Reset All Settings” in the pop-up box.
  5. Then try to connect Bluetooth device with your iPhone.

Note: When you Reset All Settings, your iPhone will remove all Bluetooth pairing details, saved Wi-Fi Networks & Passwords, and APN & VPN Settings.
Solution 6: Factory Reset
Before reset your iPhone to Factory Settings, backup your device. Because this action will Erase all data from your device.
To back up your device,

  1. Connect your phone to Wi-Fi or Data network.
  2. Launch Settings->Apple ID (your name)->iCloud->iCloud Backup.
  3. Make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on. Tap “Back Up Now”.

Factory Reset/Restore

  1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
  2. Tap “Erase All Contents and Settings”.
  3. A pop-up box will appear with three options: Back Up Then Erase, Erase Now, and Cancel.
  4. If you want to backup your device, tap “Back Up Then Erase”.
  5. If you have already taken a Backup, tap “Erase Now”.
  6. Wait until the process is finished.

Solution 7: restore your phone in DFU/Recovery Mode
Before doing it, take a backup. Because this action will erase all data from your device.

  1. Connect your iPhone to Mac/Computer via Lightning (USB) cable.
  2. Open iTunes on PC/Computer.
  3. Make sure that iTunes is updated to the latest version.
  4. Then Force Restart your iPhone (follow all three steps from Solution 1).
  5. Don’t leave the Side Button after seeing the Apple Logo. Keep holding it until Recovery Mode screen (iTunes) appears.
  6. Select “Restore” or “Update” in the pop-up box. Wait until the process is finished.
  7. After restore finishes, set up your iPhone.

Other solutions:

  1. Check Apple warranty status. If your iPhone covers warranty, take it to the Apple Service Center.
  2. Make an Apple genius bar appointment.
