iPhone 7, 8 and X Not Ringing When Get a Call or Text – Here’s the Fix


Many iPhone users have complained that their iPhone not ringing when they get a call or text. I know this is a big problem who are having. If anyone calls, we couldn’t take a phone calls or seeing the messages. One of the iPhone users has discussed this problem with me. Somehow, we have found the solution to get rid of this problem. In this article, I am going to tell you those solutions. If you have the same issue, then read this article.
Solution 1: Check Ring / Silent Switch
On the left side of your phone, you can see the ring or silent switch. If you can see the orange strip in it, then your phone is in silent mode that’s why you couldn’t hear the ring sound when you get a call or message. So, change the ringer switch to ringer mode. Then check the sound whether working or not.
Solution 2: Check Do Not Disturb Mode is Off
If you have turned on Do Not Disturb Mode on your iPhone, then you won’t get text or call sound. Make sure that your phone is not in silent mode. To check,

  1. Go to Settings -> Do Not Disturb.
  2. If Do Not Disturb turned on, you just turn off it.
  3. Another way is to swipe up your screen to get control center. Here also you can see Do Not Disturb mode.

Solution 3: Check Ringer and Alerts
Make sure that you have selected Ringer and Alerts sound full. If it low, then you can’t get a sound when your phone rings. To check,

  1. Go to Settings -> Sounds.
  2. Under Ringer and Sounds, make sure that you set the sound fully.

Solution 4: Allow Notifications is turned on for the Phone call and Text

  1. Go to Settings -> Notifications.
  2. Check Allow Notifications is turned on for both phone and Messages.
  3. If it turned on, then no problem. If not, then turn it on first.

Solution 5: Force Restart your iPhone
iPhone 7 & 7 Plus
Press and hold the Side Button and Volume Down Button until the Apple Logo appears.
iPhone 8, 8 Plus, & X

  1. Press the Volume Up Button and release it.
  2. Press the Volume Down Button and release it.
  3. Press and hold the Side Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Note: Don’t press “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” at the same time.
Solution 6: Change the Ringtone

  1. Go to Settings -> Sounds.
  2. Tap Ringtone. Select a new ringtone for Calls.

Solution 7: Restore your Phone on Recovery Mode
Before doing this, back up your device because this action will erase your phone’s data.

  1. First, connect your iPhone to Mac via USB cable.
  2. Next, open iTunes on your Mac. make sure that iTunes is updated to the latest version.
  3. Then force restart your iPhone.
  4. Don’t leave buttons after seeing the Apple logo. Keep holding it until Recovery Mode screen (iTunes screen) appears.
  5. Select “Restore” in the pop-up box. Wait until the process is finished.
  6. Then force restart your iPhone.
