iOS 12 Ringtones Not Working on iPhone/iPad? Here's the fix


Many Apple users have a complaint that ringtones not working on their iPhone. They said that this problem occurred after updating iOS 12. Here I am going to tell you the solutions to fix this issue. If you have the same issue, this article will help you to solve it
Fix 1: Disable Silent Mode
Check whether your phone is in Ring Mode or Silent Mode. If your Phone is in Silent Mode, you will not hear ringtone sound. So you will think that ringtone is not working.ios 12 rintones not working-iphone
Fix 2: Check the Ringtone volume

  1. Go to Settings->Sounds/Sounds & Haptics.
  2. Drag the slider to increase Ringer and Alerts volume.

Fix 3: Turn off Bluetooth
If your iPhone is connected to any other Bluetooth devices/accessories, you can’t hear the ringtone sound through the speaker. So turn off Bluetooth.

  1. Open Settings->Bluetooth.
  2. Turn off “Bluetooth”.

Fix 4: Restart your iPhone

  1. Press and hold the Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until the slide to power off screen appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn off your device.
  3. To turn on your device, press and hold the Power Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Fix 5: Check the Ringtone

  1. Go to Settings->Sounds/Sounds & Haptics.
  2. There you can see many categories such as Ringtone, Text Tone, New Voicemail, New Mail, Sent Mail, Calendar Alerts, Reminder Alerts, and AirDrop under SOUNDS AND VIBRATION PATTERNS.
  3. Tap “Ringtone”.
  4. Change the ringtone and check whether it is working or not. If it doesn’t work, try another ringtone and check.

Fix 6: Force Restart
iPad, iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus, and earlier
Press and hold the Home Button and Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until the Apple Logo Appears.
iPhone 7 & 7 Plus
Press and hold the Side Button and Volume Down Button until the Apple Logo appears.
iPhone 8, 8 Plus, & X

  • Press the Volume Up Button and release it.
  • Press the Volume Down Button and release it.
  • Press and hold the Side Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Fix 7: Check the speaker

  1. Make sure that there is no dust or debris inside of the speaker.
  2. Clean the speaker with a small, dry, clean, soft-bristled brush to remove the dust or debris.
