Many Apple users have a complaint that Location Services not working on their iPhone. They said this problem occurred after updating iOS 12. One of the iPhone users said some solutions to fix this issue. If you have the same problem, this article will help you to fix it.
Devices: iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6, 6s, 6 Plus, and iPad
Solution 1: Check internet connection
- Make sure that your device(iPhone/iPad) is connected to Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
- Make sure that your internet connection is good and speed.
Solution 2: Enable Bluetooth
- Go to Settings->Bluetooth.
- Make sure that Bluetooth is turned on.
Solution 3: Refresh Location Services
- Go to Settings->Privacy->Location Services.
- Turn off “Location Services”.
- Restart your iPhone/iPad.
- Turn on “Location Services”.
- There you can see some items such as App Store, Maps, Calendar, Find friends, Weather and more.
- Select any one of the items. You can see two options: Never and While Using the app. Select “While Using the app”. Some apps will have three options: Always, While Using the App, and Never. likewise, select “While Using the App” option for all items.
Note: If you select “Always” (if available) for any item, that item will use your location automatically when your device is connected to internet source (Wi-Fi/Cellular Data).
Solution 4: Enable Restrictions for Location Services(If Location Services greyed out)
- Go to Settings->Screen Time->Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Enter Screen Time Passcode (Restrictions Passcode).
- Turn on “Content & Privacy Restrictions”.
- Scroll down to find “Location Services” and tap it.
- Select “Allow Changes”.
Solution 5: Force Restart
iPhone 6 and earlier
Press and hold the Home Button and Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until the Apple Logo Appears.
iPhone 7 & 7 Plus
Press and hold the Side Button and Volume Down Button until the Apple Logo appears.
iPhone 8, 8 Plus, & X
- Press the Volume Up Button and release it.
- Press the Volume Down Button and release it.
- Press and hold the Side Button until the Apple Logo appears.
Solution 6: Refresh Airplane Mode
- Open Settings.
- Turn on “Airplane Mode“.
- Wait for 1 or 2 minutes and then turn it off.
Solution 7: Delete the apps
Uninstall and reinstall the apps that are not working with Location Services.
Solution 8: Reset Location & Privacy
- Go to Settings->General->Reset.
- Tap “Reset Location & Privacy”.
- Enter your passcode.
- Tap “Reset Settings”.
Solution 9: Reset Network settings
- Go to Settings->General->Reset.
- Tap “Reset Network Settings”.
- Enter the Passcode if required.
- Tap “Reset Network Settings” in the pop-up box.
Note: This action will reset all Wi-Fi Networks & Passwords, APN & VPN Settings, and Cellular Settings of your iPhone.
Solution 10: Factory Reset
Before reset your iPhone to Factory Settings, back up your device. Because this action will Erase all data from your device.
To back up your device,
- Connect your phone to Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
- Launch Settings->Apple ID (your name)->iCloud->iCloud Backup.
- Make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on. Tap “Back Up Now”.
Factory Reset/Restore
- Go to Settings->General->Reset.
- Tap “Erase All Contents and Settings”.
- A pop-up box will appear with three options: Finish Uploading Then Erase, Erase Now, and Cancel.
- If you want to backup your device, tap “Finish Uploading Then Erase”.
- If you have already taken a Backup, tap “Erase Now”.
