iOS 12 Custom Ringtone Not Working? Here’s the fix

Many Apple users reporting that the custom ringtone not working after the iOS 12 on iPhone/iPad. They said that purchased ringtones are on their iPhones. Solution 1: Change the Ringtone to default

Change your ringtone to default.

1. Open Settings->Sounds/Sounds & Haptics.
2. Tap “Ringtone” under Sounds and Vibration Patterns.
3. Select Default ringtone under Ringtones.

Hard Reset – iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus, and earlier

Press and hold the Home Button and Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until the Apple Logo Appears.

iPhone 7 & 7 Plus

Press and hold the Side Button and Volume Down Button until the Apple Logo appears.

iPhone 8 and later

• Press the Volume Up Button and release it.
• Press the Volume Down Button and release it.
• Press and hold the Side Button until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.

Choose the purchased ringtone

1. Open Settings->Sounds/Sounds & Haptics.
2. Tap “Ringtone” under Sounds and vibration patterns.
3. Then select the purchased ringtone.

Solution 2: Delete the Purchased Ringtones through iTunes.

Delete the purchased ringtones through iTunes and again download all purchased tones and select the songs to ringtone.

1. Connect your iPhone to iTunes through PC or Mac.
2. Choose Tones and erase all the purchased ringtones.
3. And click “Sync”. Disconnect your phone from PC or Mac after the sync is completed.
4. Then go to Settings->Sounds->Ringtone->Download All Purchased Tones.
5. Then all songs will be downloaded to your iPhone.
6. Now selects a ringtone from the purchased songs.
7. That’s it.

Solution 3: Select a purchased song for some contacts

Try to set the purchased ringtones to some contact. To do that,

1. Launch Contacts app.
2. Click the Contacts icon.
3. And select a contact randomly.
4. Tap “Edit” at the right-upper corner of the screen.
5. Then tap on “Ringtone”.
6. Select the purchased song and then click “Done”.
7. Set it for some contacts and check whether the purchased ringtones are working or not.

Solution 4: Download a new ringtone

Download songs from iTunes and set them as a ringtone. For that,

1. Go to iTunes Store->Search.
2. Search the ringtone which one you want.
3. Tap on the price.
4. Tap “Purchase”.
5. Enter your Apple ID and Password.
6. Tap “Sign In”.
7. Then follow the screen instructions to download the song.
8. Now set this purchased tone as a ringtone and check whether it is working or not.

Solution 5: Reset All Settings

Reset all settings will help to play the custom ringtone on your iPhone. To do that,

1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
2. Tap “Reset All Settings”.
3. Enter your passcode and Restrictions passcode.
4. Tap “Reset All Settings”.
5. Again tap “Reset all Settings” to confirm.

Note: This action will reset all Wi-Fi Networks & Passwords, APN & VPN Settings, and Cellular Settings of your iPhone.
Other Solutions:

1. Downgrade iOS 12 to 11
