iOS 12 Battery Drain (Fixed)


Many people have a complaint that their iPhone battery draining fast all of a sudden. I also have this issue. Last night I saw the battery percentage. It was 98%. But today morning it was completely drained out. There was only 20% battery on my phone. I didn’t even touch the phone throughout the night. It happens only after upgrading my phone to iOS 12. Then one of my friend suggested me to try some solutions to fix this issue. If you have the same issue, this article will help you to fix it.
Solution 1: Turn off “Background App Refresh”
Turning on Background App Refresh may drain the battery level.

  1. Go to Settings->General->Background App Refresh.
  2. Tap “Background App Refresh”.
  3. Select “Off” from 3 options (Off, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi & Mobile Data”.

Solution 2: Restart your Device

  1. Press and hold the Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until slide to power off screen appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn off your device.
  3. To turn on your iPhone, press and hold the Power Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Solution 3: Force Restart
iPhone 6 and earlier
Press and hold the Home Button and Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until the Apple Logo Appears.
iPhone 7 & 7 Plus
Press and hold the Side Button and Volume Down Button until the Apple Logo appears.
iPhone 8, 8 Plus, & X

  1. Press the Volume Up Button and release it.
  2. Press the Volume Down Button and release it.
  3. Press and hold the Side Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Solution 4: Force close apps
Apps which are running in the background may drain the battery. So close all the apps running in the background. Do it every time after using the phone.
iPhone 5, 6, 7, and 8

  1. Press the Home Button twice. You can see the recently closed apps.
  2. Swipe all the apps up to close them including music App.force close apps-iphone 8

iPhone X

  1. Swipe the screen up from the Home screen. You can see the recently closed apps.
  2. Press and hold the app firmly. Tap ‘-’ symbol in the red circle at the left upper corner of the app (OR) after seeing ‘-’ symbol in the red circle, swipe all the apps up to close them.force close apps iphone x

Solution 5: Check Battery consumption for Apps

  1. Launch Settings->Battery.
  2. Under “BATTERY USAGE”, you can see the battery consumption for each app. Find which one (app) makes your battery draining so fast.

Solution 6: Turn off “Auto-Brightness”
Auto-Brightness automatically adjusts the screen brightness according to lighting conditions. So turn it off and set the stable bright for your iPhone.

  1. Launch Settings->General->Accessibility->Display Accommodations.
  2. Toggle off (turn off) Auto-Brightness.

Note: Sometimes, turning off Auto-Brightness may affect battery life.
Solution 7: Reduce the Brightness

  1. Go to Control Center.
  2. Adjust the brightness level.

(OR)

  1. Open Settings->Display & Brightness.
  2. Drag the slider to adjust the brightness.

Solution 8: Turn on “Low Power Mode”
Low Power Mode reduces power consumption. When it is on, Background App Refresh, Mail Fetch, Hey Siri, some visual effects, and automatic downloads will be turned off or reduced.

  1. Go to Settings->Battery.
  2. Turn on “Low Power Mode”.

Solution 9: Check for Software Update

  1. Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
  2. Open Settings->General->Software Update.
  3. Tap “Download and Install” if update is available.

Solution 10: Try DFU/Recovery Mode
Before doing it, back up your device. Because this action may erase all data from your device.

  1. Connect your iPhone to Mac/Computer via Lightning (USB) cable.
  2. Open iTunes on PC/Computer.
  3. Make sure that iTunes is updated to the latest version.
  4. Force Restart  (Solution 3) your iPhone. Wait until you see the Recovery Mode screen (iTunes screen). Don’t leave the buttons when Apple Logo appears.
  5. Select “Update” in the pop-up box. Wait until the process is finished.

Note: When you select “Update”, iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without deleting your data.
