Read Receipts Not Working on iOS 12 (Fixed)

Many Apple users have a complaint that Read Receipts not working on their iPhone.  They said that this problem occurred after updating iOS 12. Here you can find some simple solutions to fix iMessage Read Receipts not working on iOS 12.
Before trying these solutions,

1. Read Receipts can’t be turned on for group messages.
2. When you delete whole conversation and again start a new conversation, you have to turn on Read receipts.
3. You need to turn on Read receipts every time you start a new conversation with a specific person.

Solution 1: Turn on Read Receipts for all conversation
Some people will turn on Read Receipts for specific person and they will say read Receipts not working. So make sure that you have enabled Read Receipts for all conversations.

1. Launch Settings->Messages.
2. Make sure that Send Read Receipts option is turned on.

Solution 2: Refresh Read Receipts for all conversation

1. Launch Settings->Messages.
2. Turn off “Send Read Receipts”.
3. Restart your iPhone.
4. Turn on “Send Read Receipts”.

Solution 3: Turn on Read Receipts for a Specific Person

1. Open the message of the person that you want to turn on Read Receipts for.
2. Tap (i) info symbol at the right-upper corner of the screen.
3. Turn on “Send Read Receipts”.
4. When you delete the whole conversation of the specific person, Read Receipts will be turned off automatically. So turn on Read Receipts when you start a new conversation.

Solution 4: Force Restart
iPhone 6 and earlier
Press and hold the Home Button and Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until the Apple Logo Appears.
iPhone 7 & 7 Plus
Press and hold the Side Button and Volume Down Button until he Apple Logo appears.
iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, XS, XS Max, & XR

1. Press the Volume Up Button and release it.
2. Press the Volume Down Button and release it.
3. Press and hold the Side Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Solution 5: Reset All Settings

1. Go to Settings->General->Reset.
2. Tap “Reset All Settings”.
3. Enter your passcode and restrictions passcode.
4. Tap “Reset All Settings”.
5. Again tap “Reset All Settings” to confirm.
6. Wait until your iPhone restarts.
7. Then turn on Reading Receipts (Solution 1).

Note: Reset All Settings will remove all Bluetooth pairing details, saved WI-Fi Networks & Passwords, and APN & VPN Settings.
