iMessage Error “Number Changed To Primary” on iPhone XS, XS Max or XR


When I was sending a text messages, I got this “Number Changed to Primary” on my new iPhone XS Max. Many iPhone users also having this same issue on their iPhone XS, Xs Max and XR. Solution 1: Force Restart your device

  1. Press the Volume Up Button and release it.
  2. Press the Volume Down Button and release it.
  3. Press and hold the Side Button until the Apple Logo appears.

Note: Don’t press “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” at the same time.
Solution 2: Turn On and Off iMessage

  1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down the page to find Messages and click on it.
  3. Now, turn off iMessage.
  4. Wait for few seconds and turn it on back.

Solution 3: Change Default Voice Line

  1. Go to Settings -> Cellular -> Default Voice Line.
  2. Tap to change.

Solution 4: Change Cellular Data Number

  1. Go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data.
  2. Choose the phone number which you want to use for your data.

Solution 5: Sign Out iMessage

  1. Go to Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive.
  2. Tap on your Apple ID and tap Sign Out.
  3. Now, go to Settings -> FaceTime and select the Apple ID and click Sign Out.
  4. Now, restart your iPhone. Then Sign in back iMessage and FaceTime using Apple ID.

Delete the messages from the person you see the message “number changed to primary” then turn off your phone until u see the Apple logo and it should be gone. It worked for me!
