"Error Downloading Photo from iCloud Photo Library" – Fixed

Whenever I tried to view, edit or download a photo- “Cannot Download Photo. There was an error downloading this photo from your iCloud photo of my photo from your iCloud photo library” error occurred. I was a bit confused about this issue. What I did is…had shared this issue with my friend Wilson and he gave me some tricks to fix it. Listed below are the tricks suggested for fixing this error.
Fix 1: Force close Appsforce close apps

  1. Double-click the Home Button.
  2. You will be able to see all the running apps in the background.
  3. Swipe up to close all the apps.

Fix 2: Restart your device

  1. Firstly press and release the Volume Up button quickly.
  2. Then press and release the Volume Down button quickly.
  3. Wait for few seconds.
  4. Finally, press and hold the Side button until an Apple Logo appears on your screen.

Fix 3: Sign Out and Sign In your iCloud account.

  1. On your iPhone, launch Settings.
  2. Tap the Apple ID banner (at the top of the screen).
  3. Scroll down to see Sign Out option and then tap it.
  4. Tap Sign Out of iCloud if you have different accounts otherwise,
  5. Enter your Password and then turn off.
  6. Wait for few seconds and then again go back to Settings.
  7. Sign In your Apple ID.
  8. Again sign in back your iCloud account.

Fix 4: Activate iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone.

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to see Photos & Camera option and then tap it.
  3. Turn on your iCloud Photo Library.
  4. Activate Optimize iPhone Storage if your storage space is short.

Fix 5: Uncheck Optimize Photos

  1. Launch Settings -> Accounts & Passwords.
  2. Tap on iCloud -> Photos.
  3. Check off Download and Keep Originals.
  4. Uncheck Optimize iPhone Storage.
  5. Wait for few seconds
  6. Restart your device.

Fix 6: Turn Off Low Power Mode.

  1. On your iPhone, launch Settings.
  2. Tap on Battery.
  3. Turn Off Low Power Mode.

Fix 7: Check the iPhone Storage

  1. Firstly, go to Settings.
  2. Tap on Storage & iCloud Usage.
  3. Finally, check if the iPhone Storage is full or not.

Other Solutions:

  • Use AnyTrans for iOS to download photos from iCloud Photo Library.
  • Factory Reset your device and then reload all your information (It is advisable to backup your data before doing this fix)
