High Sierra links not opening in chrome? Here’s the fix


I installed High Sierra last week and since then I have noticed that Chrome not opening email links. Then I said about this issue with my friend that macOS High Sierra won’t open links. She said some solutions to fix this issue. Here I am going to share those solutions with you. If you have the same issue, this article will help you to fix it.
Before trying these solutions,

  1. Set Chrome as a default browser and open a link.
  2. Restart your Mac.
  3. Shut down mac. Press and hold Power Button+Command+Option+R+P keys simultaneously until you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Solution 1: Update Chrome

  1. Launch Chrome.
  2. Tap Customize and control Google Chrome button (3 dots) at the top right corner.
  3. Go to Help->About Google Chrome.
  4. If update is available, chrome will download and install updates automatically.
  5. Tap “Relaunch” if Chrome is on the latest version.

Note: You have to tap “Relaunch” whether update is available or not.
Solution 2: Reset Chrome

  1. Launch Chrome.
  2. Tap Customize and control Google Chrome button (3 dots) at the top right corner.
  3. Tap “Settings”.
  4. Tap “Advanced” at the end of the page.
  5. Tap “Reset”. Again tap “Reset” int he pop-up box.

Solution 3: Restart Mac

  1. Shut down mac.
  2. Press and hold Power Button+Command+Option+R+P keys simultaneously until you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Solution 4: Restart Chrome

  1. Launch Chrome.
  2. Type Chrome://restart in the address bar.
  3. Then tap “Enter”.

This action won’t close the opening tabs.
Solution 5: Try Google Chrome Beta

  1. Download Google Chrome Beta.
  2. Close Chrome.
  3. Then Drag Google Chrome Beta into the application folder.
  4. Launch Chrome. Now the links will open appropriately.

Solution 6: Reset NVRAM/PRAM

  1. Turn off (shut down) your Mac.
  2. Press and hold the Option+Command+P+R keys simultaneously until you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Other solutions:

  1. Close the chrome (press and hold Command+Q) completely and then reopen it.
  2. Use Safari browser instead of chrome.
  3. Uninstall and reinstall the Chrome Browser.
