Fixed: Drag and Drop Not Working on Mac High Sierra


I update my Mac to High Sierra before 4 months. After that I can’t drag and drop. I Don’t know why. One of the Mac user said some solutions to fix this issue. If you have the same issue, this article will help you to fix it.
Before trying these solutions,

  1. Restart your Mac.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth. Wait for few seconds and then turn it off.

Solution 1: Enable “Three finger drag”

  1. Go to Apple menu->System Preferences->Accessibility.
  2. Select “Mouse & Trackpad”.
  3. Click “Trackpad Options”.
  4. Make sure that Enable dragging is turned on.
  5. Click the arrow next to Enable dragging. Select “three finger dragging” and then click “OK”.enable three finger dragging high sierra

Solution 2: Force quit the Finder

  1. Press and Command + Option + Esc keys to get Force Quit Applications window.
  2. Select “Finder” and then Click “Relaunch”.force quit finder

Solution 3: Delete plist files

  1. Go to Finder->Go->Go to Folder.
  2. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the pop-up box and then click “Go”.
  3. Select the following plist files: com.apple.preferences.trackpad.plist, com.apple.AppleMultitouchTrackpad.plist, com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.trackpad.plist, com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist, and com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist.
  4. Move them to Trash Folder to delete them.
  5. Then restart your Mac.

Solution 4: Check for Software Update

  1. Go to Apple menu->System Preferences->App Store.
  2. Click “Show Updates”.
  3. Then Download and Install available updates.

Solution 5: Restart your Mac in Safe Mode (Safe Boot)
Restart your Mac in Safe Mode will fix many issues on your Mac. But you can’t use some features in Safe Mode.

  1. Turn off your Mac via Apple menu->Shut Down.
  2. Turn on your Mac.
  3. Press and hold the Shift Key as quickly as possible after you hear the startup sound. You can see the Apple Logo on the Screen.
  4. Keep pressing the Shift Key until you see the Login Window.
  5. Enter your User Name & Password to login. You may need to login twice if FileVault is turned on.

Other Solutions:

  1. Reset SMC.
  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM.
  3. Create a New User Account and use it.
