Steps to Create a Bootable Installer for MacOS Mojave


Creating a bootable installer for MacOS will help to format target disk, perfect and clean installs, you can install OS in multiple Mac. By using USB key and Flash drive. I tried this method for my Mac, believe me there are no issues for my Mac and more productive to use USB installer drive and run the installer. Now in this article, I’m gonna explain to you how to create a bootable installer for MacOS. Hope it will useful for you.

Make sure if your Mac is compact with Mojave.

Mojave compact for

  • MacBook Pro (mid-2012 and  newer)
  • MacBook Air (mid-2012 and  newer)
  • MacBook (early 2015 and later)
  • iMac(late 2012 or newer)
  • iMac Pro(2017 or newer)
  • Mac Pro(late 2013 or newer, or mid-2010 and mid-2012 model with Metal capable GPU)
  • Mac Mini (late 2012 or newer)

Then you should have a USB 3.0 flash drive with 8GB of storage.

How to create a bootable installer on Mac

Step 1: Download the MacOS Mojave

Step 2: Open a Finder window and click Application.

Step 3: Right-click on Install MacOS.

Step 4: Select Show Package Contents then open Contents > Resource.

Step 5: Then open Terminal Window by tapping  Application > Utilities > Terminal.

Step 6: Type “sudo” space and then drag “createInstallMedia” from finder location.

Step 7: Then type “-volume space”.

Step 8: Click Finder  > Go menu.

Step 9: Tap Go To Finder and then type /Volume and click Go.

Step 10: Then connect the USB drive in PC. Now, find it in  Finder Window.

Step 11: Now drag the USB flash drive volume to Terminal Window.

Step 12: Then press and hold Return key on the keyboard.

Step 13: Enter y to continue. Agin press return key.

Step 14: Finally installation will starts by clean out the content in the USB drive and copying the installer file to drive.
