Many Apple users have a complaint that their Apple Watch 3 not tracking activity. As you all know, activity includes calories, distance, steps, route, and more. Here I am going to tell you the solutions to fix this issue.
Solution 1: Update your iPhone and Apple Watch
To update your iPhone,
- Connect your phone to Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
- Go to Settings->General->Software Update.
- Tap “Download and Install” if update is available.
To update your Apple Watch,
Update your Apple Watch after updating your iPhone.
- Connect your Apple Watch to power. Make sure that your Apple Watch has at least 50% charge. Don’t disconnect your Apple Watch from power while updating.
- Connect your phone to Wi-Fi.
- Keep your Apple watch next to iPhone.
- Open Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap My Watch tab->General->Software Update.
- Tap “Download and Install” if update is available.
- Enter your passcode if required.
- Click “Agree” to agree the Terms and Conditions.
Solution 2: Enable Fitness Tracking and Heart Rate
- On your iPhone, go to Settings->Privacy->Motion & Fitness.
- Make sure that “Fitness Tracking” and “Heart Rate” are turned on.
- Launch Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
- Go to My Watch tab->Privacy.
- Make sure that “Heart Rate” and “Fitness Tracking” are enabled.
Solution 3: Enable “Wrist Detection”
- Launch My Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap “Passcode”.
- Make sure that “Wrist Detection” is enabled.
Solution 4: Enable Location Services on iPhone
- Go to Settings->Privacy->Location Services.
- Make sure that “Location Services” is on.
Solution 5: Enable some options under System Services
- Go to Settings->Privacy->Location Services.
- Scroll down to find “System Services” and tap it.
- Turn on “Motion Calibration & Distance”, Wi-Fi Networking”, “Setting Time Zone”, and “Mobile Network Search”.
Solution 6: Update your personal details
Apple Watch will use your personal details to calculate your Activities like calories that you burn, distance that you cross, steps that you walk through and more. So maintain your details up to date.
- Launch My Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap My Watch tab->Health->Edit.
- There you can see your personal details like Birthdate, Sex, Height, etc. Select the item that you want to change.
- Tap “Done” after changing.
Solution 7: Restart your iPhone and Apple Watch
Force close apps on your iPhone and then restart your iPhone & Apple Watch.
To restart iPhone,
- Press and hold the Power Button (Sleep/Wake) until the slide to power off screen appears.
- Drag the slider to turn off your device.
- To turn on your device, press and hold the Power Button until the Apple Logo appears.
To restart Apple Watch,
- Press and hold the Side Button until Power Off slider appears.
- Drag the slider to turn off.
- Then press and hold the Side Button to turn it on.
Solution 8: Calibrate your Apple Watch
Calibrating your Apple Watch will improve the accuracy of your step, calorie, and distance measurements.
- Wear you Apple Watch on your wrist
- Go to open outdoor area to receive good GPS.
- Launch Workout app on your Apple Watch.
- Tap Outdoor Walk/Outdoor Run.
- Tap 3 dots at the upper-right corner.
- Walk or run how you actually walk/run for 20 minutes.
Solution 9: Reset Calibration Data
Resetting Calibration Data won’t delete your Activity history. Many Apple Watch users said that that it is the perfect solution for this issue.
- Launch Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap My Watch tab->Privacy.
- Tap “Reset Fitness Calibration Data”.
Solution 10: Unpair and Re-pair your Apple Watch
Unpairing your Apple watch is the same as restoring your Watch to Factory Settings. When you unpair your Apple Watch, the iPhone will automatically take a backup of your watch.
Before unpair your Apple Watch, connect it to cellular plan/Wi-Fi.
- Make sure that the distance between your Apple Watch and iPhone is not too far. Keep them as close as possible.
- Launch Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap My Watch tab.
- Tap your Apple Watch when it shows on top of the screen.
- Tap (i) info symbol that is next to your watch to unpair it from your iPhone.
- Tap “Unpair Apple Watch”.
- After unpairing, you can see the message to repair again. Then repair your Apple Watch with iPhone.
Other Solutions:
- Delete all third-party sleep tracking, fitness tracking, and heart rate monitoring apps from your Apple Watch.
- Check Apple warranty status. If your iPhone covers warranty, take it to the Apple Service Center.
- Make an Apple genius bar appointment.
