Apple Watch Series 3 GPS Not Working? Here’s the fix

Many Apple users have a complaint that their Apple Watch Series 3 not tracking activity/calories. They said that Activity and Workout app not working well to record the distance or the route map. If you have the same problem on your Apple Watch, this article will help you to fix this issue.
Solution 1: Check your connection

  1. Make sure that your Wi-Fi connection is good. If you are using Cellular Data, check the speed.
  2. On your Apple Watch, Swipe the screen up to get Control Center.
  3. Make sure that Wi-Fi/Cellular Data is enabled.

Solution 2: Enable Location Services on iPhone

  1. Go to Settings->Privacy->Location Services.
  2. Make sure that Location Services is on.

Solution 3: Enable “Motion Calibration & Distance” on iPhone

  1. Go to Settings->Privacy->Location Services.
  2. Scroll down to find “System Services” and tap it.
  3. Make sure that “Motion Calibration & Distance” is turned on.

Solution 4: Enable Fitness Tracking and Heart Rate

  1. Launch Settings->Privacy->Motion & Fitness.
  2. Make sure that Fitness Tracking is enabled.
  3. Make sure that Heart Rate is enabled.

Solution 5: Update your iPhone and Apple Watch
To update your iPhone,

  1. Connect your phone to Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
  2. Go to Settings->General->Software Update.
  3. Tap “Download and Install” if update is available.

To update your Apple Watch,
Update your Apple Watch after updating your iPhone.

  1. Connect your Apple Watch to power. Make sure that your Apple Watch has at least 50% charge. Don’t disconnect your Apple Watch from power while updating.
  2. Connect your phone to Wi-Fi.
  3. Keep your Apple watch next to iPhone.
  4. Open Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  5. Tap My Watch tab->General->Software Update.
  6. Tap “Download and Install” if update is available.
  7. Enter your passcode if required.
  8. Click “Agree” to agree the Terms and Conditions.

Solution 6: Unpair and Re-pair the Apple Watch
Unpairing your Apple watch is the same as restore your Watch to Factory Settings. When you unpair your Apple Watch, the iPhone will automatically take a backup of your watch. Before unpair your Apple Watch, connect it to cellular plan.

  1. Make sure that the distance between your Apple Watch and iPhone is not too far. Keep them as close as possible.
  2. Launch Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  3. Tap My Watch tab.
  4. Tap your Apple Watch when it shows on top of the screen.
  5. Tap (i) info symbol that is next to your watch to unpair it from your iPhone.
  6. Tap “Unpair Apple Watch”.
  7. After unpairing, you can see the message to repair again. Then repair your Apple Watch with iPhone.
