Solutions

Solution 1: Open a Standalone App Before Activating Guided Access

I was struggling with this too but found the solution. You need to have a standalone app open before activating Guided Access. First, toggle on Guided Access and Accessibility Shortcut in Settings. Then, close Settings and open another app. Try activating Guided Access again. Hope this helps someone!

Solution 2: Select Multiple Options Under Accessibility Shortcuts

Here's a tip: If you're having the same issue, try selecting more than one option under Accessibility Shortcuts. For example, choose both Guided Access and Color Filters. Then, triple-click the side button, and it should work.

Solution 3: Perform a Power Cycle and Toggle Guided Access

This worked for me after a forced restart. First, power cycle your device. Then, open the app you want to use, go to Settings, and toggle Guided Access off and on. Close the Settings tab, reopen the app, and try Guided Access again by clicking the power button. This solution worked on my iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 17.

Solution 4: Force Restart Only When iPhone is Unresponsive

Only force restart your iPhone if it's frozen or unresponsive. If you can power off the iPhone normally, do that instead.

Solution 5:Restart Device After Re-Enabling Guided Access

  1. Turn off Guided Access in Settings.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Turn Guided Access back on.

It should start working again as before.

Solution 6: Reset Guided Access and Check App Limits

If Guided Access isn't working on your iPhone, try resetting it: Go to Settings > Accessibility, turn off Guided Access, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Make sure Guided Access isn’t restricted by app limits: Go to Settings > Screen Time > App Limits > All Apps & Categories, and delete any limits.

If it still doesn’t work, force restart your iPhone.

Solution 7: Restart iPhone and Check for iOS Updates

If Guided Access isn’t working, try restarting your iPhone and make sure you’re using the latest iOS version."
