How to Toggle between 2G, 3G or LTE Networks in iOS 8.1


Apple added new option in iOS 8.1 to toggle between 2G, 3G or LTE for cellular data. Yo can switch 2G, 3G  or 4G network in your iPhone with simple steps.

Step 1: Open settings App.

Step 2: Tab Cellular/Mobile

Step 3: Tab Voice & Data

Many users reported that this option not showing in their iPhones after update iOS 8.1.  Some iOS users thing this option not work on all  Apple LTE approved networks like T-Mobile, orange and Play. They think this option only works on Plus (Poland) simcards. But this network not approved by Apple LTE network.

Actually Apple disabled this option in some countries that have poor 3G courage like India (Airtel, Vodafone etc).

How to Fix this issue

Solution 1: According to Apple,

This problem might happened because you downloaded over WiFi. Restore the operating system on iTunes will fix this issue.

Solution 2:

Go to settings-> Cellular and update it. Some users said this will solve their issue. Apple iOS update also automatically updated your carrier.

Connect your iPhone to computer using USB cable. Launch iTunes and choose check for updates. If any new carrier settings available for your device, it show pop message about new carrier settings for your iPhone. Then click “Download and update option” to install that new carrier settings.

Note: Using higher network like LTE may decrease battery life.
