This cable or accessory is not certified, fix – iPhone & iPad

When users try to charge their iPhone, they getting error message like “This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone”. This issue mostly happened in iPhone 5s & iPhone 6 after iOS update.
Cable accessory is not certified

Do not use 3rd party chargers to charge your iPhone or iPad. Only use original Apple lighting cables.

Fix 1;-

  1. Connect your USB cable to the wall charger.
  2. Turn off your Phone (Press and hold Power button and Home button together until Apple logo appears). When you see the spinning wheel, connect your charger in the phone.
  3. Wait some time. Allow iPhone be connected to the charger. Also do not switch it on.
  4. Wait 15 minutes. Tun on your iPhone and dismiss the warnings.

Fix 2:-

  1. Connect your USB cable to the wall charger.
  2. Then connect your iPhone to USB cable.
  3. If you getting any warning, dismiss it.
  4. Unplug the USB cable. Then plug it back in.
  5. Again dismiss the warnings.
  6. It might charge again.

Other Fixes:-

  • Clean the lighting port with a piece of paper.
  • Plug the cable in to your phone first then plug into the USB charger or laptop.
  • Take the plastic iPhone case. Allow it stand for a minute

This problem might happened because of the jailbreaking, water damage, activation bypassing or Cydia. If you have any other issues, inform us via comment.

On the box of my third party charger its says that this is a lightning cable but I still get the accessory not certified. And I've surfed the Internet and tryed EVERYTHING and it's just not budging for anything so does this mean I need a new charger (wall adapter is part of the original iPhone charger)

i was in the bathroom and i was texting and i dropped my phone in the toliot, we let it absorb in rice for awhile every thing was working how it was supposed to well when i got home we tryed plugging it into the charger and we saw that a piece if rice got stuck in the charger jark we tryed breaking the piece of rice and we got it and now when i try to plig it in it says this charger is not relieble…ect what do i do i need help now my phone is only on 12%

This message is very annoying and keeps popping up even when my phone is not plugged in. I only have apple chargers … No third party equipment. Any ideas why this is happening? I have an iPhone 5.

This sometimes happens after a Lightning connector replacement. I think its one specific pin on the cable which is the culprit because it even happens when I plug a bad USB lead into my laptop. I'm in the process of trying to find a workaround because this also limits charge speed to 100mA (ie 12 hour+ charge time)

My iPad has this same message. I have always used the genuine Apple cables. Both cables give the same error message. Looking back, this started a few days ago when I turned on Airplane mode. I've tried the tricks of different combinations of Airplane mode on / off while powering the iPad on / off. Seems like a software issue. Any more ideas?
Thanks

A followup to this. After trying all these things, the battery was down to 15%, I took it to the Apple Store, they tested it thoroughly and still had the same message (and it not charging). Apple is replace the whole unit.

FIX TWO WORKS AND IT TAKES LIKE NO TIME AT ALL!
THANK YOU SO INCREDIBLY MUCH! I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT AND WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR A CAB TO AND FROM A MALL 20 MINUTES AWAY JUST TO BE TOLD TO SIMPLY DISMISS THE MESSAGE AND TRY AGAIN.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!
