Thank you so much! So many websites said this could not be done on an iPad but it worked perfectly!

Thanks a lot Arun
Your instructions were the best compared to the others and I got my yahoo mail working great.

All goes well until I click next and it's verifying and then message comes up "cannot connect using SSL" and asks do I want to try setting up without SSL?

I got that message initially. Found out I had lost Internet connectivity. Check to see that you have a connection.

Trying to get my email setup on iPhone 6. It's saying that the mail server IMAP.mail.yahoo.com is not responding. I have it on my iPad which is in sync with my phone??

I tried .. but keep giving me this message. Cannot Get Mail. The mail server "imap.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail Settings.

I changed my password and since then I can't access my yahoo mail account. I updated my Apple ID Password and it accepted but I can't get to my yahoo mail account. I deleted and added account and it takes me to verifying, thereafter it directs me to login to your yahoomail account. Nothing happens after that. For the past two days I am stuck without mail.

I was having all of these issues that everyone else has listed, but my yahoo username is not my full email address. These instructions say to add your full email address in the user name section. Once I put in my actual user name and not my full email address it started working.

Yaa true if the 2 steps of authentication is activated then yes.. it wont wrk at all..i tried it and yes now my yahoomail is working fine

Hi there
I've set it all up and all is good but how do I start sending emails? Do I need to download a yahoo app on my phone?

Try the following solutions
http://www.iphonetopics.com/cannot-get-mail-the-mail-server-imap-gmail-com-is-not-responding/
http://www.iphonetopics.com/iphone-ipad-cannot-get-mail-the-connection-to-the-server-failed/

Another solution
Navigate to Settings ->Mail,Contacts, calenders… settings
Select the email account your having problems with
Click on your Account ***** @ ymail.com etc
At the bottom it says " SMTP Yahoo! SMTP Server ->" select that
Tap " Add server…
Type " stmp.mail.yahoo.com " leave the user name and password blank.
It should take some time to connect.

Changed my password for yahoo mail, and works fine on desktop. Also followed your instructions how to enter new yahoo account and password on iPhone 4. When I go to check mail on iPhone now, it asks me to verify password. After I enter new password, I get this message: "operation couldn't be completed (MFmessageError Domain error 1032)
Any suggestions on how to fix that?

It says:
Cannot Connect Using SSL
Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?
I said YES and again Verifying, then:
The SMTP server "stmp.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Outgoing Mail Server" field.
Then I hit OK.
I verified that everything is right spelled. But It didn't work.

Is the server supposed to be referred to as "SMTP" or the other way you have it "STMP"…M and T transposed! Which is correct? Gary

My problem is related to the password. All attempts end with "the user name or password is incorrect. This all started with the purchase of a new iPhone. Everything still works on my desktop and iPad. Soooo frustrating.

I was having a problem adding my daughter's email to her iPhone because she is a minor. It was saying "uh oh, You do not meet the minimum age requirement for this action".
I followed your instructions and it worked great.

Thank you.

Bridget

Trying to set up Yahoo mail account on new ipad 2. Went through all these steps exactly as stated, got to "verifying" at the end, then error message "Cannot get mail. The user name or password for "imap.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect. What gives? Any help?
Thanks, Penny

I am unable to set my yahoo account. Even tried the steps given above . Finally it says user name or password entered is wrong.

I dont have a problem in my Iphone 5 and the desktop PC. I had the yahoo account. After yahoo got deleted and now i am unable to add it.

Hi BB, I realize this is an old conversation, but I am having the exact problem that you stated. Yahoo forced me to change my password today and I was then unable to access my email on my phone. I tried using the new password but no luck. So I am trying to create a new Yahoo email account on my phone, but it keeps telling me either the username or password are incorrect. What did you use as your actual username? Can you give me a random example compared to an email address? Thank you!

I have a similar problem. I deleted a Yahoo account from all my iOS devices after hearing about the Yahoo security breach. Then I went to my desktop (iMac) and changed the password for that account, then added that account back to my two iPads and my iPhone 5S. The iPads added it just fine but my iPhone won't let me add that account. It keeps saying 'the user name or password for "xxxxxx@yahoo.com" is incorrect.' even though I know it's NOT incorrect. I've just gone back to my iMac and made sure I can log in and everything works smoothly.
So why can't I add this account to my iPhone? The other two accounts I use (one gmail and one other Yahoo) had no problem installing and all three accounts were working just fine on my iPhone until I deleted them all and tried to reinstall them, at which point my 2nd Yahoo email won't add.

You saved me, dear. Thank you for sharing this with us. I am an active user on yahoo account but I was not able to setup my account on my phone.

if you are having incorrect username and password info displaying on your screen,Kindly do this below;

Go to your Yahoo account. Then Account info. Then Account Security. Allow apps that use less secure sign in. Thats it.

this didn't work now its telling me that my email is incorrect. i have had the email for twenty years i typed it in correct

Woohoo, you did it! Thanks for the advice. I had to do both:
1. Set up the imap.mail.yahoo.com and the smtp.mail.yahoo.com settings, AND
2. Go to your Yahoo account. Then Account info. Then Account Security. Allow apps that use less secure sign in.

It's Yahoo! preventing this. Do the above two things and you can circumvent Yahoo! age restrictions and security controls. I guess it wasn't supposed to be easy to circumvent their controls 🙂

Yahoo! recently made this more difficult by tightening their security settings to reject sign-in attempts from a mobile device when set up with the "other email" instructions above. HOWEVER, you can get around this:

1. First, follow the instruction above to set up the "other email" account for imap.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com; AND

2. Change your Yahoo! account security settings to "Allow apps that use less secure sign in". This will tell Yahoo! to accept rather than reject your login attempts. Find out more at: https://login.yahoo.com/account/security#other-apps.

Just got my 11-year-old's Yahoo! mail account working with these two steps.
