Fortunately, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to get your iMac up and running again. Follow these solutions to diagnose and fix the problem efficiently.
Step 1: Check Power and Connections
- Verify that the power cable is securely plugged into both the iMac and the power outlet.
- If you are using a power strip or surge protector, try plugging the iMac directly into a wall outlet.
- If the power cable is damaged, replace it with a known working one.
- If using an external display, ensure it is powered on and properly connected.
Step 2: Force Restart the iMac
- Press and hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds until the iMac shuts down.
- Wait a few seconds, then press the Power button again to restart it.
- If the screen remains black or the Apple logo does not appear, move to the next step.
Step 3: Check for Display Issues
- Increase the brightness using the F2 key on the keyboard.
- If using an external display, confirm it is working by connecting it to another computer.
- Try another video cable or adapter if you are using an external monitor.
- If the display remains black, continue with the next steps.
Step 4: Boot into Safe Mode
- Turn off the iMac completely.
